QUALIFICATIONS:
- TRAINEE: Must possess a CDL and have completion of at least 120 hour school in the past 6 months with NO carrier between school and applying with NCI. Also must have a clean driving and criminal record.
- EXPERIENCED: Must have 1 year verifiable OTR experience within the last 3 years. (6 months experience in the last year is acceptable but must include completion of a driving program of at least 120 hours. Requires Certificate of completion)
- MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE AND HAVE HELD A US DRIVER’S LICENSE FOR THE LAST 12 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS
- TWIC CARD IS REQUIRED (Carrier will help to obtain and cover all related costs)
- HAZMAT IS NOT REQUIRED BUT PREFERRED (Carrier will cover all related costs. HAZMAT loads pay an extra $50 per load.)

The qualifications, training process and pay scale work differently for Trainees
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MUST possess a CDL and have completion of at least 120 hour school in the past 6 months with NO carrier between school and applying with NCI.
- Good safety record – no preventable accidents or moving violations
- Good work record – no long term unemployment and no job hoppers. As a rule, we will work with any student who has 6 or less jobs in last 3 years
- NO Criminal history or drug or alcohol violations
- Not currently under contract to any carrier
- Good attitude. They won’t work with anyone who is making demands on the front end
- Reasonable expectations – They get a lot of these folks thinking they are going to make $2k a week. Not feasible.
PAY AND TRAINING:
“Training pay will be $100 per day and typically last 3-4 weeks. Once you get dispatched solo the pay scale ranges from $0.46-$0.56 CPM.”
Training Pay – $100 per day, up to $700 per week (7 day week). The Student must be on the truck with a qualified trainer in order to be eligible for training pay, unless otherwise approved by NCI management. Any days at home are not paid.
Training Period – All students will be paired with an NCI approved Driver trainer who will be responsible for ensuring the student is properly trained in all DOT and NCI requirements and processes. The student’s status coming into the program will be based each individuals background and previous experience. (Please see Training Scenarios – Student Classifications as shown below).
NCI management will make final determination of the student’s qualifications to go solo at the point all required training and testing is successfully completed.
PAY SCALE AFTER SOLO
Starting (once actually solo in truck): $.46 CPM for all dispatched miles, loaded and empty.
At completion of 90 days solo: $.48 CPM for all dispatched miles, loaded and empty
At completion of 6 months solo: $.50 CPM for all dispatched miles, loaded and empty
At completion of 12 months solo: $.52 CPM for all miles, loaded and empty
At completion of 2 years solo: $.53 CPM for all miles, loaded and empty
At completion of 3 years solo: $.54 CPM for all miles, loaded and empty
At completion of 5 years solo: $.55 CPM for all miles, loaded and empty
At completion of 7 years solo: $.56 CPM for all miles, loaded and empty

Compensations is as follows:
The base line haul rate to start is $0.50 CPM on all miles, loaded and empty. You will also earn at least $0.03 CPM in accessorial pay – that is extra pay you will see each week with National in stop pay, detention pay (automatic), and layover pay, as well as performance bonuses. Detentions and layovers are minimized as much as possible.
Average weekly mileage is 2,600 – 2,800 miles/wk

EQUIPMENT INFO
The National Carriers fleet of Kenworth T-680’s average 0-3 years old with both automatic and manual transmissions, governed at 68 MPH. All trucks are assigned and can be taken home for time off. They are also equipped with ThermoKing APU’s, 2500 watt invertors, refrigerators, Bluetooth and double bunks. Cameras are front facing and event only.
